About postheuristic.ai

Adventures in AI Design

I'm Mikio Braun, and this is where I collect my experiments, thoughts, and projects at the intersection of AI and human experience.

What's a postheuristic?

A heuristic is a mental shortcut—a rule of thumb that helps us make decisions without thinking too hard. Useful, but limiting.

Postheuristic is what comes after. It's designing with AI in ways that go beyond simple rules, embracing complexity, uncertainty, and the messy reality of human-machine collaboration.

The 30-Year Journey

I've been building software since the early 90s. Machine learning researcher, startup founder, engineering leader. The constant thread: fascination with how humans and machines can work together.

These days I'm focused on AI experiences that feel human. Not "AI assistants" or "chatbots," but genuine interactions that surprise, challenge, and delight.
