Deep Learning is the one exception, of course. Especially if you use tensorflow. ;)
So coming from a data analysis background, I am always suspicious of any claims in software that some approach will make everything better.
I didn't realize at the time but this comment changed the way I thought about algorithms and provable correctness.
One of the best remarks from my prof on ML: you can prove things, but the real question is how it performs once the assumptions don't hold.
Oddly, the new Twitter UI manages to elicit the feeling something is happening, something is new, and makes me get back to Twitter more.
