@y0b1byte I met him once. He is quite a nice guy, really impossible to tell 😅
RT @wrede: I wrote down all the costs associated with my product. You may be surprised at how many services are required for a "small" prod…
@bernhardsson I mean my humanity split theory also explains how so many people vote for Trump, or didn't get vaccinated during COVID but that's another story :)
@bernhardsson (b) are individually too stupid or systems are too complex to spot bugs (but then why adding one other helps?) Whereas your POV seems to be more to trust that everyone is trying to keep prod from working.

Increasingly I think that humanity is really split into pretty distinct populations who have widely different ways of thinking. Just looking at the post you quoted, saying "sure just break prod every time you release something" seems to assume that (a) devs don't care or..

Children's sense of humor is so priceless and absolutely incomprehensible!

As far as I heard, Twitter had really done great work to make the platform stable and ready for more easily work on new features right before Melon took over. It's a pity.
What you really cut is the available workforce to continue to improve the system, add new features, and so on. If you laid the foundations well, a much smaller team can also do that. But you're much more restricted in what you can do. And it shows.

That you're sorry and not saying "these friggin idiots, I had to change everything to make it work" shows you're one of the good ones!

Yeah, it's these metaphors that get me. A factory means reproducing the same product at low cost, software is about creating customized solutions. It's just not the right metaphor.

Yeah and obviously I'm unaware of all the other cool services they integrated with...
RT @rasbt: One of the best ways to understand LLMs is to code one from scratch! Last summer, I started working on a new book, "Build a Lar…

Is this AI generated? I can't tell. The amount of grass is a bit suspicious. Those should be parking lots, too, I guess?!

Yeah, and it's always like "that wouldn't work here." The one thing that strikes me as remarkable is that you need to have a lot of money to even do an election campaign. I'm not even sure how that's done in Germany, but that's such an obvious problem.

A while back I read some article claiming that the US constitution was never intended do be a real democracy but rather give some semblance of participation while making sure the "nobles" keep the power. I can't find it, but I'm often thinking about that.

But honestly, we've been pretending for too long that all this talk about AGI and whether LLMs violate copyright laws are actual discussion points. AGI: not yet LLMs are copyright violations: of course they are, you just don't want to pay for the TBs of data you scraped!
Happy New Year to all those who observe. This year, my resolution continues to be "FHD upscaled to 4K." Just kidding, but honestly - Care less about SV AI bros and US media. - Go out and do stuff.
